NTIA to Hold Meetings with Interested Parties on Broadband Grant Programs Starting March 2, 2009

          The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (“NTIA”) will meet with interested parties starting March 2, 2009 to discuss the implementation of two broadband grant programs.  The first program, established by the Broadband Data Services Improvement Act of 2008, directs the Secretary of Commerce to award competitive grants to eligible parties to improve federal and state data about the availability and quality of broadband service deployment in the United States.  The second program, established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, directs the NTIA to administer the “Broadband Technology Opportunities Program” to make grants available on a competitive basis to promote broadband deployment.

All interested parties are invited to schedule a meeting, and such meeting requests can be submitted until further notice.  Meetings will be held at the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, 1401 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.  The substance of each meeting and any written presentations will be placed on the public record.
